Rupee opens stable vs dollar
Mumbai, Feb 24 (UNI) The rupee today opened stable at 44.42/43 against the dollar as compared to Thursday's close of 44.43/45 at the forex market here, a dealer said.
The local unit traded at 44.44/45 in the mid-morning session.
There was healthy inflow of Rs 417 crore in the booming Indian equity markets on Wednesday as compared to Rs 125 crore on Tuesday which will keep the rupee well supported at higher levels.
The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) was trading with a loss of 44 points to quote below the 10,200-level at 10,199 around 1130 hrs which might put pressure on the rupee.
The global crude oil prices were at USD 61.10 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange(NYMEX), which might not impact the domestic currency much.
