Rashtriya Chemical's cooling tower breaks down

Alibag, Feb 22 (UNI) The cooling tower of the Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers, situated at Thal, near here, in Raigad district, broke down this morning.

The company sources said the tower broke down at around 1100 hrs.

Due to this, the company's ammonia and urea power plants had stopped functioning, leading to loss of crores of rupees. The plant has a daily production of 5,000 tons of urea.

The reason behind the breakdown is yet to be ascertained, sources said.

The plant was recently in news because of the agitation launched by the project-affected people, who were demanding employment in the plant.
