President's Address Lacking in Social Justice: Janeshwar

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Samajwadi Party Leader Janeshwar Mishra today pulled up the government for failing to provide jobs to the unemployed while making tall claims about the country's economic growth.

The government, while being unable to guarantee jobs, had further failed in not providing unemployment dole to the educated unemployed youth, said the socialist leader while participating in the resumed discussion in the Rajya Sabha on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address.

In this regard, Mr Mishra gave the example of the Uttar Pradesh government which had provided unemployment dole to the jobless in the state.

Besides making provision for unemployment dole, UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had also reduced charges for medical services in the state, said Mr Mishra urging the Centre to emulate the UP example.

He wondered how the government could lay claim to economic development when more than 800 million population in the country remained deprived of the benefits of such progress.

Speaking of the rural areas, Mr Mishra said these continued to remain deprived of potable water -- with women even now having to trudge for miles to secure one pot of drinking water.

The President's Address had failed to mention any schemes by the government aimed at securing social equality and justice for the Indian masses, he said.
