Pondicherry, Feb 22 (UNI) The Janata Dal (Secular) here will forge an alliance with the AIADMK-PMC combine in the coming Assembly elections to fight the Congress, State Unit President E Ganesan said here today.
Addressing a press conference Mr Ganesan said the party had supported the Congress-led front in the last Assembly elections hoping it would implement people-friendly schemes. But the expectations were shattered by the Rangasamy Government which functioned as an 'anti-people' establishment.
He said the local body elections had not been held even after the court directions. The government also failed to provide proper relief to tsunami and flood-affected people.
The party decided to join the AIADMK-PMC combine in a bid to unseat the Congress Government which failed on all fronts and talks were being held with the leaders of AIADMK and PMC on the alliance.
He also asked the Left to join the combine.
Mr Ganesan clarified the Pondicherry unit was functioning under the leadership of Mr Deve Gowda.
