Pondicherry Assembly session begins tomorrow

Pondicherry, Feb 22 (UNI) A brief session of the Pondicherry Assembly begins here tomorrow with the customary address by Lt Governor M M Lakhera.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy, who also holds the finance portfolio, will present the interim budget for the first four months of the financial year 2006-07 at 0930 hrs on February 24 during which he is expected to announce several people-friendly schemes and concessions in view of the coming Assemlby elections.

The House is also likely to pass a bill abolishing entrance examinations for admission to professional colleges here.

The Opposition is expected to raise issues such as the non-conduct of panchayat elections despite Madras High Court direction.
