Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will lay the foundation stone for the Rs 4,360 crore Vizhinjam Deep Water International Container Transhipment Terminal next month, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said today.
Briefing newspersons here after a meeting of the State Cabinet, Mr Chandy said the Prime Minister was likely to visit the state on March 10 and 11.
He said the government would give utmost importance to infrastructure projects like Vizhinjam, Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal, upgradation of Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode airports, Kochi Metro and Smart City projects.
As per the Vision 2010 document, the government would take up a number of initiatives to increase employment opportunities through public and private investment thereby doubling the per capita income.
The employment generation on account of the direct and indirect employment in tourism and allied sectors was expected to increase to four million. A science city would be established in the state for promoting science tourism, he added.
