Pilot urges Centre against fuel price hike
Jaunpur, UP, Feb 23 (UNI) Congress MP Sachin Pilot has urged the central government against hiking the prices of domestic gas and diesel in the country.
Talking to UNI here today, Mr Pilot claimed he had written a letter to Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora that any hike in fuel prices as per the Rangarajan Committee recommendations would have direct ramifications on the common man.
He urged the union minister to consider the matter in light of his observations.
''A copy of this letter has also been forwarded to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.'' Mr Pilot maintained the rise in the prices of fossil fuels in the international market had a direct effect on the domestic fuel prices.
''The Centre should resort to the fuel price hike as the last option,'' he added.
