Passengers found unconscious in train

Tiruchirappalli, Feb 22 (UNI) The biscuit bandits appeared to have struck again this time on the Kurla Madurai Express which arrived here this morning with four passengers found in an unconscious state.

Government Railway Police (GRP) sources told UNI the beat constables found Prema (55), her mother Lakshmi (80), Ardhanari (70) and wife Shanthi (66) in an unconscious state in S3 coach of the train which arrived at the Tiruchirappalli Railway Junction at 0830 hrs.

They were admitted to two private hospitals at Tiruchirapalli and Srirangam where their condition was stated to be stable.

Preliminary inquiry revealed the incident could have happened in Renigunta in Andhra Pradesh. However, the full details could be obtained only after the passengers regained consciousness.

They said the case would be transferred to Andhra Pradesh for further investigation.
