Jabalpur, Feb 22 (UNI) Paramilitary personnel have been stationed at 52 Indian airports in the wake of the 1999 Kandahar hijacking, AAI Director (Security) Manish Shankar Sharma, a Madhya Pradesh-cadre IPS officer, said.

''Fourteen airports were classified as hypersensitive and 21 as sensitive. Security is as per standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. Besides, the IB periodically inspects principal airports and issues directives for improvement. Israeli experts praised our security system,'' he told mediapersons last night in a chat here.

The officer said CISF personnel would soon be stationed at the local Dumna airport and closed-circuit TV installed.

''This airport's employees are being imparted two days' training by Capt Amit Sharma. Such training was imparted to 11,000 employees last year and the 2006 target is 25,000,'' he added.
