Pak colts cash success: to get Rs 200,000 each

Lahore, Feb 22 (UNI) The toast of the nation, Pakistan colts are heaped not just with accolades but big bucks as well after their thumping win over arch rivals India in the Under-19 World Cup final recently.

In a stunner played at R Premadasa stadium in Colombo on Sunday, Pakistan defeated India by 38 runs after being bundled out for just 109 runs.

No sooner that the victorious Pakistan cricket squad returned home from Sri Lanka to a resounding welcome in Karachi yesterday, the PCB announced a cash reward of Rs 200,000 for each of the 14 players and officials including coach Mansoor Rana and manager Aftab Baloch.

Former Pakistan greats and captains Hanif Mohammad, Mushtaq Mohammad and Zaheer Abbas were among those who showed up to welcome them. Later at the lunch thrown for the boys here at the National Stadium, Hanif and Zaheer met them and exchanged views with the young guns.

Shaharyar PCB Chief Khan on the occasion, said the Board would try to ensure that the youngsters, who had shown so much potential in the World Cup, were not wasted and would keep a close tab on their development.
