NRIs keen on developing Mangalore
Mangalore, Feb 23 (UNI) NRI Mangaloreans in the United States, UAE and Europe have shown keen interest in the overall development of Dakshina Kannada district with a whopping investment of Rs 250 crore.
Briefing newspersons here today, Mangalore MLA N Yogish Bhat said this was informed by a businessman from Abu Dhabi B R Shetty, a native of Udupi, during his recent meeting with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa in Bangalore.
The investment would mainly be in the areas of tourism, IT, Port, Special Economic Zone, libraries and education.
He said Mr Shetty had also held discussions with the Principal Secretaries of IT, Tourism and Industries, before presenting project proposals for investment here. The investment would also be in the field of basic infrastructure, development of Government Hospitals and Mangala stadium, he added.
The BJP MLA, who was also present in the meeting, said NRIs had also shown keen interest in developing Kadri Park in the city with an investment of Rs four crore for providing facilities like musical fountain, children's park, amphitheatre and meditation and yoga centre.
