No knowledge of female foeticide in HP: CM
Shimla, Feb 22 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister today said that the government had no knowledge of any illegal female foeticide rackets being run by the private health clinics in the state but added that the government was keeping a close watch on them.
Only one case of female foeticide has been registered in the state and the health department was continuing with the raids to bring the guilty to the book, he informed the Vidhan Sabha in his reply to a question by Karam Dev Dharmani.
Mr Singh said there were 179 registered clinics in the state out of which 45 were in the government sector and 134 in the private sectors and a close monitoring of these clinics was being maintained by the government.
Special teams under CMOs in the district have been constituted to check the practice, he said.
In reply to another question, Mr Singh said the Land Ceiling Act did not apply to the tea gardens of the state, while replying to a question by Mohinder Singh (BJP).
Replying to a supplementary, he said the issue could be raised in a separate question and a detailed answer could be sought from the revenue minister.
