No govt rep attended US delegation's interaction with J

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) The Government today clarified that no representative of the Government participated in a meeting between a US delegation led by Congressman Dan Burton and some personalities from Jammu and Kashmir recently.

''It is the Government understanding that while the US Congress delegation was in India, the US Charge d'Affaires hosted a social event in honour of the delegation on November 28 and it was attended by some personalities from Jammu and Kashmir, but no representative of the Government partcipated in the event,'' Minister of State Anand Sharma told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.

He was responding to former Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha's question as to whether Mr Burton visited India recently and held discussion with representatives of Jammu and Kashmir on the question of resolving the issues with Pakistan, and whether a government representative attended this meeting.

Mr Sharma said Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah also reportedly attended the event organsied by the US Embassy, but he did so in his individual capacity.
