Mustard procurement in MP from March 1
Bhopal, Feb 22(UNI) Procurement of mustard by NAFED at the support price of Rs 1715 per quintal would begin in Madhya Pradesh on March 1, the government told the Assembly today.
Advancing the procurement by one month had been done at the state's initiative as the crop had matured for harvesting, Cooperation Minister Gopal Bhargav said in reply to a call attention notice moved by Mr Durgalal Vijay, Mr Nanalal Patidar and Mr Ramniwas Rawat.
Mr Bhargava said stock of gunny bags had been procured from Kolkata and it would reach the state in a few days. Appealing the farmers not to resort to distress sale, he said procurement of about 2 lakh tonnes as per FAQ (fair average quality) norms would be made.
He assured that the NAFED, the nodal agency, would be requested to start procurement from February 15 from next year in view of early matury of mustard in the state.
