Minister should have paid more attention to safety
New Delhi, Feb 24 (UNI) The All India Forward Bloc praised Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for not increasing the fare but criticised him for paying little attention to safety of the passengers.
AIFB General Secretary Debabrata Biswas in a statement said Mr Lalu Prasad's decision not to increase the passenger fare was based on reaility.
He, however, regretted that no proper scheme or initiatives were announced by him for ensuring safety and security of the passengers.
Mr Biswas said it could have been better if the Railway Minister had included some intiatives to upgrade the railway tracks while announcing new trains, super fast trains and world class trains.
The party expressed serious reservations on the proposed private participation for expanding rail network and freight carriers, saying it would lead to privatisation of the Indian Railways gradually.
