Srinagar, Feb 22 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti has said that she would present a ''comprehensive proposal'' to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the round table conference in New Delhi on Saturday.
The proposal will be based on self-sufficiency, economic reforms, entrusting internal security to police, declaring Jammu and Kashmir a Free Trade Zone and compensation to the state in lieu of the Indus Water Treaty besides concerted policy for achieving long lasting and dignified peace in the state, she told party workers during the day-long convention at Pulwama in south Kashmir.
Ms Mufti appreciated the Prime Minister's move to convene a round table conference on Kashmir.
She expressed the hope that representatives of all regions and political parties would present their viewpoint based on ground reality so that a broad outline could be determined to evolve a consensus for finding an acceptable solution to the Kashmir issue.
''The conference will be a harbinger for starting a pleasant chapter of the state's glorious history thus getting rid of bloodshed and violence due to which people of the state have suffered a lot,'' the PDP President added.
