Maran writes to PM on Chennai Airport

Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran, has written a letter today to Dr Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister for initiating immediate action for modernisation of Chennai Airport.

In the letter, Mr Maran has mentioned that President of India in his address to Parliament on February 16 indicated that plans were being made by the Government of India for the modernisaton and development of Kolkata and Chennai Airports. This statement had been received with a lot of enthusiasm in the country.

He had therefore requested the Prime Minister to initiate the process of modernisation of Chennai Airport immediately and also make suitable announcement in this regard, a press release here said.
