Man's lust costs him life after one year

Madikeri, Feb 22 (UNI) A 57-year-old man was bludgeoned to death by a family, which had been nursing a grouse against him for the past one year for attempting to rape one of its members, at Garwale village near Somwarpet.

Napanda Uthappa had tried to outrage the modesty of Kushalappa's wife Sharada last year. After the incident, he had fled to Bangalore, where he was employed.

Kushalappa and his family members, who sighted him in the village yesterday, chased him and attacked with bill hooks and clubs, killing him on the spot.

As the village had ostracised Uthappa, no one attended his funeral.

Police arrested four accused, including Sharada. However, Kushalappa managed to give a slip to the police.
