Mallikarjuna temple spruced up for 'Sivaratri'

Kurnool, Andhra Pradeesh, Feb 23 (UNI) 'Mallikarjunalingam'- one of the 12 'Jyothirlingas' situated on the Krishna river at the sacred hill shrine of Srisailam, has been spruced up for the week-long 'Maha Sivaratri' celebrations from today.

The temple premises has been illuminated and make-shift pandals put up to for the comfort of the devotees in queue of devotees who throng the temple to offer worship to 'Bramaramba Sameta Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy'. 'Maha Sivarathri' falls on February 26.

The devotees observe a 'fast' on the day and offer worship in the evening, break the fast as per sacred custom.

Temple authorities said about 35 choultries and tourism guest houses are also being made available for the benefit of pilgrims during the festive week.
