Major fire breaks out in Belgaum
Belgaum, Karnataka, Feb 24 (UNI) A major fire broke out at Halakatti village in this district today, damaging 50 houses fully and an equal number partially.
Sources said four heads of cattle and 15,000 quintals of maize stock were reduced to ashes in the fire. The blaze was extinguished by eight fire tenders, rushed from the taluk headquarters of Soundatti.
Deputy Commissioner Shalini Rajnish visited the village and took up relief work on a war footing. A temporary relief shed was set up and victims were being provided with food and water.
