M F Hussain's arrest demanded

Mangalore, Feb 24 (UNI) The Hindu Janajagriti Samiti today demanded the immediate arrest of celebrated painter M F Hussain for ''obscenely'' portraying Hindu Gods and Goddesses in his paintings, besides withdrawing the honours conferred on him by the Government.

Addressing newspersons here, Samiti Convener Shivananda Prabhu said the Samiti would stage a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here tomorrow to protest against the ''insult'' and for hurting the sentiments of thousands of Hindus across the country.
