LS adjourned over PMO's letter to CBI on Advani

New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) The Opposition persisted in creating noisy scenes in the Lok Sabha today over the alleged interference by the government in the functioning of the CBI in a Babri Masjid demolition case involving Opposition Leader L K Advani, forcing the adjournment of the House for the day.

As soon as the House re-assembled after the lunch recess, the BJP-led Opposition was on its feet with some of the members trooping into the well of the House demanding resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

They were agitated over a newspaper report that the PMO had asked the CBI in writing why no action had been taken against Opposition Leader L K Advani in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

As the BJP members continued to shout slogans, members in the treasury benches also stood up to shout them down.

When the pandemonium continued despite Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal's appeal for calm, he adjourned the House for a fourth time, for the day.
