Law for safe houses on the cards
New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) A draft law to ensure better buildings and town plan for safety against natural calamities and earthquakes is under scrutiny, the Government said today.
An expert committee of the Home Ministry prepared the model Town and Country Planning legislation, Zoning Regulation Development Control and Building Regulation/By-laws for safety against natural calamities, Urban Development Minister Ajay Maken informed the Rajya Sabha during Question Hour.
All states and union territories had been informed about the draft and were receiving assistance from the Building Materials and Technology Promotion Council in framing amendments to their Town and Country Planning legislation, Zoning Regulation Development Control and Building Regulation/bye-laws, he said in a written answer.
