Hubli, Feb 24 (UNI) The Central Kannada Action Committee of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation today urged the state government to cancel the three zonal central offices of the Corporation to save an annual expenditure of Rs 60 crore.

Addressing a press conference here, Committee President V C Channe Gowda said the zonal central offices at Hubli, Gulbarga and Bangalore were nothing but ''white elephants'' which ate up a major portion of the profits.

''Our committee wanted the Chief Minister to understand that there is no need for separate zone corporations for the transport system with the availability of latest technology such as e-mail, internet, fax, mobile and video conferences.'' UNI MNP RG TS1534
