Kolleru clean up: Leaseholder surrenders

Machilipatnam, Feb 22 (UNI) A leaseholder in Krishna District surrendered before police at Kaikuluru today in a case relating to obstruction of demolition work in Kolleru area.

Police here said R D Balaram was facing charges of obstruction of demolition of fish tanks and instigating the people against the Kolleru operation begin undertaken by the state government as per the Supreme Court Empowered Committee directions.

It was only yesterday, the district administration announced a reward of Rs one lakh for anyone who provided clues about him.

He would be produced before Joint Collector Suresh Kumar who was also the additional district magistrate, police added.

Balaram was arrested under Wildlife Protection Act three years ago on charges of indiscriminately killing birds in Kolleru lake and holding feast.
