Kidney sale cases reported: Govt
New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The government today said some cases of alleged illegal trasplant of kidneys had come to its notice but clarified that there is no provision for compensaiton for such victims.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha,, Minister of State for Health and Family Health Panabaka Lakshmi said certain instances of illegal kidney transplantations had come to light in NCT of Delhi, Maharashtra, Chhatisgarh and Punjab.
The Sale and purchase of organs was not permmissible, he said.
CGHS: The minister informed the House that there was no proposal to wind up the Central Government Health Services( CGHS) dispenseries in the country.
Upgradation of Medical Institutions: She said there was a proposal to upgrade eleven existing state government medical institutions to the level of AIIMS in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, J and K, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Besides one Medical College Institution each was proposed to be upgraded in Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
