Kerala announces Organic Agriculture policy
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 23 (UNI) In an attempt to promote organic farming, the Kerala Cabinet today approved the Organic Agriculture policy of the state.
Briefing newspersons here after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the policy was introduced in the meeting by Agriculture Minister K R Gauri.
Official sources said the policy was announced in tune with the growing demand for organic farming products in the world market.
The Chief Minister said the Cabinet had also approved the draft Environment Policy of the state and it would be published to elicit the views of the public and experts in the field.
He said a techinical university would also be set up in the state to improve the quality of technical education. As many as 82 engineering colleges, 29 MCA colleges and 19 MBA colleges in the state would be brought under it.
