Karunanidhi hails Laloo's budget

Chennai, Feb 24 (UNI) DMK President M Karunanidhi today welcomed the Railway budget presented in the Parliament observing that the decision not to increase the fares was laudable.

In a statement here, Mr Karunanidhi, whose party is a key constituent of the UPA government at the Centre, quipped that in Tamil Nadu, bus fares were higher than train fares.

He also hailed the introduction of three new routes and 50 per cent concession on fares for farmers travelling for gricultural training, milk producers , students going for interviews and for the handicapped.

These measures are also laudable, he observed.
