Journalists protest delay in constitution of wage board

Hyderabad, Feb 23 (UNI) The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) in Andhra Pradesh today registered its strong protest and resentment at the Centre's ''inordinate delay in constitution of the new wage board for newspaper and news agencies' employees.

Journalists and non-journalists in the state capital assembled at the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) office and raised slogans against the Centre.

Leaders from both bodies stressed the need for unity among the employees to achieve their legitimate rights.

A delegation of Union leaders called on Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and urged him to use his good offices with the Centre to concede their just demand, an APUWJ release here said.

Similar protest meetings were held in the district headquarters by APUWJ members, it added.
