Journalists called upon to observe Demands Day

Hyderabad, Feb 22 (UNI) Hyderabad Union of Journalists (HUJ) president M S Hashmi has called upon all journalists and non-journalists to obbserve February 23 as ''Demands Day'', as per the call given by the Confederation of Newspaper and News Agency Employees Organisations, to protest against the inordinate delay in the constitution of new wage board.

He said in a press release that the Government of India, under the Working Journalists Act, was bound by statutory obligation to constitute Wage Board and such a Board was not constituted after 1994.

he added on the day a delegation of different media associations would present a memorandum to the Chief Minister seeking assistance and support for the cause of the newspaper employees.
