JKSCBC recommends revision of backward areas
Jammu, Feb 23 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for backward classes has recommended revision of lists of backward areas in the state in accordance with section 11 of act of the commission.
While presenting its annual report, chairman of the Commission, Justice Muzaffar Jan (Retd) said since the inception of present commission, 1330 cases were pending and a new system was devised to ascertain criteria for the demands for inclusion, exclusion or over inclusion in the notified list of backward classes.
A survey conducted by the commission found 150 cases have so far been disposed, out of which 33 were recommended to the government for inclusion in the list of backward classes, he added.
It was apprised in the meeting that the commission had received representation from the OBC for increasing reservation quota from existing two per cent to 27 per cent.
