JD(U) leader shot dead in Siwan

Siwan, Feb 22 (UNI) A prominent JD(U) leader, Surendra Patel was today shot dead by unidentified criminals in Bihar's Siwan district, police said.

Superintendent of police Sunil Kumar said that four armed criminals shot dead the JD(U) leader from point blank range at Barharia Bazar under Barharia police station.

Deputy police superintendent L D Prasad rushed to the spot after receiving the report of killing. An irate mob torched the vehicle of the police officer, he said.

Raids were on to nab the criminals, Mr Kumar added.
