Jaya announces relief for cracker unit victims

Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief J Jayalalithaa today expressed deep condolences over the death of six persons in a cracker unit blast in Virudhunagar District today.

She also expressed sympathy for the 14 persons injured in the mishap and asked hospital authorities and district administration to speedy and good treatment.

Miss Jayalalitha announced relief of Rs 50,000 each to the families of the dead and Rs 15,000 to those seriously injured. Those slightly injured would get Rs 6,000 each. All these amounts would be disbursed from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, an official release said.
