IT raids at Surat detect unaccounted Rs 18 crore

Surat, Feb 22 (UNI) The Income Tax department today detected unaccounted Rs 18 crore during raids on two firms in Kadargam area of the city.

The IT officials conducted raids on Harekrishna Exports and Godhani Gems and seized a large number of documents.

The raids are still going on.

Mr V K Gupta, IT Director (Investigation) said that since the raids were still on, it would take time to complete the assessment as the accounts are computerised.

''They have admitted to irregularities with regards to the amount of 18 crores, Mr Gupta said.
