IITM to set up research centre at BHEL complex

Tiruchirapalli, Feb 23 (UNI) The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), Chennai, will soon set up a research centre at the complex of public sector giant Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited here.

The BHEL-IITM research centre will initially focus on research programmes in the field of thermal energy with emphasis on coal-based technologies and related areas of mutual interest to BHEL and IITM, a release from the company said here today.

Post Graduate (MS) and Ph.D scholars of IITM will be stationed at the research centre to carry out research projects under the guidance of both IITM professors and BHEL engineers, it added.
