IDBI Bank's disaster recovery site inaugurated

Chennai, Feb 22 (UNI) IDBI inaugurated its state-of-the-art disaster recovery site (DRS), to facilitate continuous business operations in the city today.

With the inauguration of the Level III DRS at the hands of IDBI Chairman and Managing Director V P Shetty, it has become one among the handful of banks to have 100 per cent available DR site that would aid continuous business operations, a release here said.

This site would also help IDBI Ltd to further comply with Basel II norms and other statutory requirements.

The site had state-of-the-art systems and solutions to provide very high uptime with no single point of failure. These systems and solutions complemented each other to provide for very high uptimes, more than 99.95 per cent, with no single point of failure.

IDBI had a total business size of around Rs 72,000 crore and its business delivery channels spanned 160 branches, eight extension counters and 368 ATMs. As of December 31, 2005 the aggregate balance sheet size of IDBI stood at over Rs 82,000 crore. Its operations during the third quarter of 2005-06 resulted in net profit of Rs 119 crore. In the nine months ended December 31, 2005 the new generation public sector bank had earned a net profit of Rs 360 crore, the release noted.
