Homecoming after 20 years
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 23 (UNI) For Vasukuttan, it was homecoming after almost 20 years of desperate life in Oman.
He came back to Kerala today after spending two decades living under a staircase in Oman, in penury following the collapse of his business.
Vasukuttan who came out of the airport in a wheel chair could not control himself after seeing his brother.
Vasukuttan said he was really happy to have come back home and thanked everyone who made it possible, including NRIS who funded him for his trip.
Vasukuttan, who hails from Malapally in Pathanamthitta district, was one of the many who ventured to West Asia in the hope of better opportunities.
He started a small business but found himself in heavy debt when it did not take off and was reduced to living under a staircase.
Vasukuttan, who had not seen his wife and daughter for years, still has to wait for them as they are now in Jabalpur and will be back after the daughter finishes her examination.
