Heated exchange over exempting 'Janeo' from tax

Bhopal, Feb 23 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Assembly today witnessed heated exchange between ruling and opposition members over exempting 'janeo (sacred thread)' from tax.

CPI(M) MLA Ramlakhan Sharma intervened during general discussion on budget after lunch recess and described the government as ''communal'' for taking the decision.

He even demanded to know how many BJP MLAs wore the 'janeo'. BJP members took exception upon this, while one-two members were seen showing their 'janeo'.

BSP MLA I M P Verma said if 'janeo' had been made exempted why not similar symbols of other religions.
