Four youth allegedly killed by security forces in north Kashmir

Baramulla, Feb 22 (UNI) Four youth were allegedly killed by security forces in north Kashmir this afternoon, official sources said.

However, a defence ministry spokesman said details about the incident were awaited.

The sources said some youth were playing cricket in a field at Dodipora Handwara this afternoon when a patrol party reached there.

A youth reportedly said something to security personnel and started running out of the field. A security personnel opened fire, they said, adding security personnel in the nearby camp also started firing.

The sources said Samad Mir (21), Ghulam Rasool Bhat (20) and Shakoor Wani (10) died on the spot and Amir Hajam was critically wounded.

Hajam also died in the hospital, they said.

People in the village and adjoining areas took to the streets in protest against the incident.

Senior police officers have rushed to the area.
