Barrackpore, West Bengal, Feb 24 (UNI) West Bengal Finance Minister Ashim Dasgupta today laid the foundation of a long awaited road bridge over the railway tracks along the busy No 15 level crossing here on the Sealdah-Ranaghat main section of Eastern Railway.

The proposed flyover will cost about Rs 7.81 crore of which the state will bear Rs four crore, Mr Dasgupta said.

He said the road bridge over the railway tracks will ease heavy traffic movement, which were badly affected due to the absence of the flyover, which would connect the Barrackpore-Barasat road linking Kalyani Expressway, NH 34 and NH 35.

At least 26,000 heavy and light vehicles pass through this level crossing everyday.

He asserted that the construction of the flyover would be completed in 18 months time.
