Aizawl, Feb 23 (UNI) Mizoram today witnessed a spectacular air show, by the Indian airforce team, for the first time here.

The air show commenced with a shower of rose petals by a French-made helicopter that have been in service in the Indian Air Force from the early seventies, which flew just fifty metres above the crowd.

Flying in various formations such as the Arrow Formation and the 'T' formation, the top-notch pilots displayed their skills in close formation flying, spraying the air with the tri-colour of orange, white and green from time to time.

The initative for the air show had been taken by the Sainik Welfare office as part of a recruitment drive.

Many dignitaries including Mizoram Governor A R Kohli, ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats have witnessed the air show.

According to Joe Lalhmingliana, OSD, Civil aviation under the state government, the Sainik department had initially requested the air show for March 9, the day of the state's biggest festival 'Chapchar Kut'. However, the aerobatic team called Surya Kiran Team, had an appointment on this day in Punjab and had instead decided to di it today.
