Financial assistance for leprosy patients doubled

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today announced increase of financial assistance for leprosy patients in the capital from Rs 450 per month to Rs 850 per month with effect from February 1 this year.

She said this after inaugurating construction of an Overhead Tank, estimated to cost Rs 11 lakh, at a colony for people affected with leprosy in Tahirpur in East Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Dikshit assured leprosy patients that all amenities would be provided in their colony.

She expressed hope that the increase in financial assistance would provide relief to the patients.

Ms Dikshit added that the government was aware about the problems of leprosy patients and would provide all possible assistance in solving their problems.

Local MLA Shri Veer Singh Dhingan was present on the occasion.
