Engineer sent to jail in bitumen scam

Patna, Feb.23 (UNI) Special CBI judge of Patna Ramanand Sharma today remanded junior engineer (JE) of road construction department (RCD) of Bihar Rajendra Prasad Paswan in judicial custody in connection with a case of multi-crore rupees bitumen scam till March 6 next.

During the day Mr Paswan was produced before the designated judge by the CBI officials after his arrest from Supaul yesterday.

The case related to mysterious short supply of bitumen valued at lakhs of rupees in Supaul division of RCD, Bihar.

The CBI had already submitted chargesheet in the case against 28 persons, including former RCD minister Md Iliyas Hussain and several senior IAS officers following an FIR registered in 1997.
