Earthquakes a cause of concern: Governor
Siliguri, Feb 24 (UNI) West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi today expressed anxiety over the frequent earthquakes in Darjeeling Himalayan region.
He was here to take part in the 38th convocation of North Bengal University.
Expressing concern over frequent earthquakes in the region, the governor said North Bengal University should initiate an awareness campaign in this regard.
Mr Gandhi pointed out that many buildngs were being illegally constructed in Darjeeling district, which was a cause for concern.
He urged North Bengal University and IIT Kharagpur faculty and students to create an awareness campaign and suggest ways to minimise damage during a quake.
