Demand for direct train to Dibrugarh
Patna, Feb 22 (UNI) A five-member delegation under the leadership of Congress leader Rajesh Shukla called on Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and urged him to introduce direct train services from Patna and Dibrugarh.
Mr. Shukla told newspersons here today that a large number of people especially from suburban areas of the state capital had to travel to north eastern states for trade related purposes. He said the passengers travelling to north-east states had to face several constraints in absence of any north east state bound trains passing through Bihar or originating from Patna.
''The direct train will not only enable easy access to the north-eastern states but would also increase revenue to the railways,'' he added.
The delegation also demanded an increase in frequency of several trains including Patna-Pune Express, Sealdah-Ajmer Ananya Express, Howrah-Dehradun Upasna Express and Patna-New Delhi Rajdhani Express.
