Delhi, PU enter last four in inter-university softball

Chandigarh, Feb 23 (UNI) Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, hosts Panjab and Kurukshetra universities today qualified for the league stage in the All-India Inter-University Women Softball Championship being played at the Panjab University Campus here.

Hosts Panjab University moved up as their rivals and defending champions Mahatama Gandhi University of Kottayam did not turn up.

Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir had a easy sailing into the four-team league phase of the tournament. Delhi routed Maharishi Dayanand University of Rohtak 7-0 while Jammu and Kashmir ended the challenge of Kerala University beating them 11-1.

Kurukshetra University snuffed out a strong challenge from Pune University before registering a hard-fought 12-10 victory.
