Ahmedabad, Feb 22 (UNI) The Centre is likely to make budgetary allocation for the development of the 367-km long Dandi March route as a National Highway at a cost of Rs 360-crore.

This was stated by Congress state unit spokesman Shaktisinh Gohil while speaking to reporters here today.

Countering the BJP's allegation that the Centre had failed to fulfil its promise made during the 75th anniversary of Dandi March on March 12 last year, Mr Gohil said it was the BJP Government in Gujarat which had failed to reply to the Centre's query that had sought to know the places of historic interest on the route that Mahatma Gandhi had followed during the march.

Moreover, he said, the Ahmedabad-based Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) failed to design the Gandhi memorial at Dandi in south Gujarat. The Centre had proposed to build a museum and a library at a cost of Rs three crore and Rs two crore respectively.

Meanwhile, Mr Gohil said the Centre has already sanctioned Rs 50 lakh as an initial amount for the Rs 10-crore project to revive Gandhi Ashram on the banks of the Sabarmati.
