CPM criticises govt on airport privatisation, other issues
New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The CPM today came down heavily on the government in Rajya Sabha on the issue of airport privatisation and several other matters and demanded a discussion in Parliament under Rule 170 saying their ''support would depend on these issues.'' Mr Dipankar Mukherjee, CPM, while participating in the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, also demanded that Parliament be taken into confidence on various deals the government makes.
''We want a discussion on airport privatisation under Rule 170. Some changes in government thoughts have to be made if the government has to implement the Common Minimum Programme. Our support will be depending on these issues,'' he said.
On the issue of electricity, Mr Mukherjee said the objective should be to supply it to every household instead of villages. Only 40 per cent households were getting electricity whereas 87 per cent villages were claimed to have been electrified,'' he added.
