CPI to move Privilege Motion against E Ahamed
New Delhi, Feb 23 (UNI) The CPI will move a Privilege Motion against Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed for ''misleading'' Parliament on American interference in India's decision to invest in Syrian oilfields.
Addressing newspersons in the vicinity of Parliament House, CPI veteran and Parliamentary Group Leader in the Lok Sabha Gurudas Dasgupta said Mr Ahamed had misled the Lok Sabha by saying the US had not given any suggestion to India that the latter should not invest in Syria, he said.
The CPI had got concrete evidence to show that the US Embassy here had written to the External Affairs Ministry suggesting that India should not invest in Syria.
Mr Ahamed was replying to a question by Mr Virender Kumar( JD-S) and five other members on whether the US Embassy had written to the External Affairs Ministry on such an isssue.
The CPI leader, while accusing the government of surrendering to the ''diktats'' of the US, said his party would move a privilege motion against the minister.
The communication written by the US Embassy said that Syria is not reliable. The communication also said that India should think before investing in the country, Mr Dasgupta added.
