CPI protests price rise
New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) organised a protest here today over rising prices of essential commodities and the Government's failure to arrest it.
Addressing the protest meet, senior party leaders A B Bardhan, Gurudas Dasgupta, Sudhakar Reddy, C K Chandrappan, D Raja and Amarjeet Kaur flayed the Government for its failure to control prices.
Prices of wheat flour, cereals and other essential commodities have gone up by 30-50 per cent in the recent past, they said, demanding firm steps from the government to stop hoarding, black marketing and market manipulations.
Any rise in prices of petroleum products at this juncture would further worsen the situation, they said.
The programme here was part of an all-India agitation called by the party on the issue.
